When it’s possible, we always try local food and in Malta couldn’t be different. On this post you’ll see our suggestion of where to eat in Malta: Diar Il Bniet.
Malta was the second destination of our 2018 eurotrip where we visited also Madrid, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Prague, Krakow, Malmo and Copenhagen. We stayed 2 weeks in the country studying. By the way, we wrote about Study and Work in Malta. If you’re interested, you should check it out!
We had lunch at Diar Il Bniet in a beautiful day. We loved everything! It was our first time trying Maltese cuisine and it was surprisingly delightful! They bring fresh ingredients from the farm directly to the restaurant which makes everything more special!
Where to eat in Malta – our orders
Starter
I ordered a traditional Maltese fish soup. It’s been a while since I ordered a soup that delicious! Very tasty! Victor went for a spaghetti with rabbit sauce and he enjoyed his choice as well!
Main dish
For the main course I ordered a rabbit fried in oil, wine & garlic and Victor a slow cooked beef olive stew. Once again, everything so fresh and tasty! It was my first time trying a rabbit. In Brazil we’re not used to eat rabbit. I confess it was kinda weird for me but it was delicious so I tried to forget about it! hahahha
Oh! It was strawberry season so they had fresh strawberry smoothie… fabulous!!!

We noticed Maltese dishes are kinda bigger than we, Brazilians, are used to. I mean, each of our main courses could easily feed 2 people. It would definitely be written in our menu that those were for 2 people. I also asked about it at the restaurant but they confirmed it was for only one. We couldn’t eat all but we asked them to pack our leftovers which we ate in the evening.
If you’re looking for where to eat in Malta, there you go a real Maltese experience in cuisine. Make sure to drop by this restaurant and please yourself! 🙂
