Koh Samui is one of the most famous of all the islands in Thailand and one of our favorites (top 3). It’s a beautiful island that is famed for its stunning palm tree edged beaches and crystal clear waters. Due to its broad appeal the island is visited by all types of travelers from the budget backpacker to the mega wealthy Hollywood celebrities. Of course you can’t leave this island of your itinerary so we’re going to share our tip on where to stay in Koh Samui.
Besides being gorgeous, the island hosts a great deal of splendid natural and man-made attractions from mummified monks to the famous grandma and grandpa rocks (Hin Ta & Hin Yai) to attractive waterfalls and more, there’s nothing to stop you having a blast on Samui Island. I just with having more days (check out our full Thailand itinerary below).

Where to stay in Koh Samui
We stayed 2 days in a half in Koh Samui and we picked a “villa” to stay in during these days. We would have more privacy and convenience. When we were searching the options, we found Sandalwood Luxury Villas and realised it would be a perfect match!
Featuring nine private infinity pools and one communal pool with stunning sea views, it has a spa and free WiFi. Guests enjoy round-trip shuttle services between Samui Airport and the resort.

Location: overlooking the scenic Gulf of Siam, Sandalwood Luxury Villas occupy a prime hillside location and is about 10 km from Samui International Airport, while it’s 26 km from Nathon Pier.
As it’s located up on the hill, there’s a free shuttle to the closest beaches and convenience stores.
Sleep quality: sleeping in such paradise and in a such gorgeous room, I couldn’t sleep better. There was no noise at all from the other rooms. Also, as the Resort is up on the hill, there was no noise from the streets and the beaches as well.
The room: we stayed in the Plumeria room. The room was spacious and luxurious. As we were on honeymoon, they decorated the room so nicely! It was beautiful! We could not believe how big it is and how many amenities it had!

It’s blend of traditional Thai decor and modern amenities. They come with a spa bath, flat-screen TV and well-equipped kitchenette, with decent sized fridge, hot water boiler, and microwave for snacks and meals. We could also count on an A/C and they provided a separate oscillating fan. The bed was very comfortable as well, linens were always clean and fresh and the room was clean and free of any annoyances and damage.
The bathroom was also very spacious with plenty of room for me to get ready, complete with a private jacuzzi.
The icing on the cake, we had a small private infinity pool in our villa with a stunning view.

Services: impeccable and very accommodating staff. They were superb! They did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. The staff were attentive and welcoming. They go above and beyond to help all the guests.
When you check in they offer you a welcome drink, make you feel comfortable and then explain everything you need to know regarding your stay.
The food was delightful. At Sandalwood Luxury Villas we had the best breakfast in Thailand! There were so many delicious options that I can’t explain! Simply fabulous with different things on the buffet each day, and you can also order from the a la carte which is included!
They provided a mobile phone that helps you to stay in touch with the resort.
The box with first aid set in room was a detail that made so difference to us especially for me that I’m allergic to insects.
Cleanliness: everything was so clean! The place looks immaculate all the time and the cleaners are so fast and efficient.
Differentials: for us, having our own jacuzzi and swimming pool in a very spacious and comfortable room were details that made completely difference. The convenience of counting on free shuttles to the closest beaches and convenience stores is fantastic!

Cost-benefit: can you imagine staying in unbelievable private luxury villas for a very affordable price? For us, Brazilians, traveling abroad usually means accommodations more expensive than the ones in our country but I can assure to all Brazilians that if you stay in Sandalwood Luxury Villa you’ll have much more than value for money. Thailand is a country that you can have luxury without having to pay for it. In brief, if you’re going to Koh Samui, Sandalwood Luxury Villas is definitely your best option of stay.
Blog #PartiuMundo was welcomed as a guest, however it has not influenced our opinion. For more information about the hotel, visit its official website.
